The final days of shooting on “Chuck” brought out a lot of emotions in the show’s cast. Most of the cast, anyway. “I can’t stop crying. I cried every day, this whole month,” Yvonne Strahovski says. “I’ve just been crying every single day. I’m going to cry now. It’s horrible. I cried yesterday when I did my last fight scene ever.” Adam Baldwin, however, was remaining true to his stoic character of John Casey — at least in front of a gaggle of reporters. “Casey doesn’t cry. I think Casey goes out with a bang, or so I’ve been told,” Baldwin says. He does allow that the end of the series is “emotional,” but he’s pretty happy with “Chuck’s” five-year run. “I’ve been through series before where there have been endings that have been premature,” he says. “With this one, while we would have loved to have had another nine episodes to get through the whole season, I think 91 episodes of a show that was on the bubble is a good, long run. I feel satisfied with the course we’ve taken. I’m grateful that we were able to get this far, so I don’t feel sad.” Someone then tells Baldwin about a joke co-creator Chris Fedak made that Baldwin doesn’t actually have tear ducts, to which he replies, “If he’d have written me to cry, I could have cried. You know the secret to crying on camera?” Strahovski: “What’s that, Adam?” Baldwin: “You just think of something sad. It’s easy.” As we saw in “Chuck vs. the Bullet Train” last week, Strahovski’s Sarah Walker is going into the finale with no memory of her time with Chuck (Zachary Levi). She says it will “weigh heavy on people’s hearts” to see them try to get back to where they were. “There’s a definite element of sadness that we have to go through to get to the final moment,” she says. “And then there’s the funny stuff.” That’s not to say “Chuck” is going to a dark place as it ends: “Come on, it’s a comedy!” Baldwin interjects. Asked for their favorite episodes, Strahovski offers up the Sarah-centric “Chuck vs. Phase Three” from Season 4, but she also says the final season has been a string of highlights for her. “We’ve bonded a lot more, knowing that it’s the end, especially the last month. We’ve been hanging out a lot more as a cast, and just allowing ourselves the time to soak it all up before it ends.” [ Source ] |
