Is Jennifer Lawrence is heading to San Diego next month? She might be. Lionsgate announced today that talent from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and I, Frankenstein will be appearing on a panel at Comic-Con 2013 on July 20. Lawrence plays lead Katniss Everdeen in the post-apocalyptic adventure franchise. This is the first time that The Hunger Games will be making an appearance at Comic-Con; Lionsgate did not attend the conference in 2011 to promote the original film before its March 2012 release — the pic was a monster smash, opening with $152.5M in its first weekend and grossing $691.2M worldwide. As part of the panel, moderated by Fandango’s Dave Karger, Lionsgate also said it will be showing a new exclusive trailer for the Hunger Games sequel and never-seen-before footage from I, Frankenstein during the panel. With less than a month until Comic-Con starts on July 18, Lionsgate is the first studio to officially announce what movies it will be presenting at the pop culture confab. They are well-positioned: The Saturday slot is prime real estate at the Comic-Con, with studios rolling out their blockbuster offerings back-to-back in the cavernous Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center. Catching Fire is set to be released November 22, with I, Frankenstein (which stars Bill Nighy, Aaron Eckhart and Yvonne Strahovski) out January 24. [ Source ] |
