IGN TV: So you’re back in the CIA! Yvonne Strahovski: [Laughs] I know! I knew I would get this question! IGN: Is that funny for you? When you were growing up, was there anything that made you think, “I could be a secret agent”? Strahovski: I mean, I did consider that. Obviously, I’ve played a CIA agent before, and I have said in the past that I don’t like to repeat characters. But in the same breath, I will say that this show is so different, as I’m sure you would agree, to Chuck. IGN: Yeah, I would say so! Strahovski: I almost feel like I’m playing an actual CIA agent this time, because Chuck was such an entertaining, funny show where we’d always do goofy scenarios. I mean, we had serious stuff to do on the show; it was dramatic at times, and there were tears and blood and sweat. But I think this is more the real deal, and it’s more about real people within the CIA. IGN: The tone isn’t the same at all. Strahovski: Right. Also, in watching the show – I’ve been binge-watching 24, just like I binge-watched Dexter – I saw it was a whole different kettle of fish. The writing’s different, the acting’s different. So it’s my challenge to come up with something different again, to what I’ve been doing in the past. I think so far I’ve been lucky enough to play very different, diverse roles, an this is an opportunity for me to do that again. IGN: You’re playing a character hunting Jack Bauer, which seems like a daunting task. Strahovski: Yes it is! [Laughs] I won’t say that it’s not, because it is. IGN: When I spoke to Kiefer, he described your character as almost like Jack Bauer at the beginning of the series. Strahovski: You know, it’s funny that you say that, because when I was watching Season 1 of 24, I thought, “You know what? I think Kate Morgan’s gonna be a little impulsive like Jack Bauer.” I thought the same thing. So I’m really glad to hear you tell me that. IGN: That’s Kiefer approved! Strahovski: Yeah! [ Source ] |
