She’s played a CIA agent on NBC’s ‘Chuck’ and the crazy Hannah on ‘Dexter.’ Now, Yvonne Strahovski can be seen on FOX’s 12-episode event series ‘24: Live Another Day’ as another CIA agent named Kate Morgan. So far, we’ve seen Kate go above and beyond to capture Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), but now she’s going to have to team up with the man who’s been in exile for the past four years. Little does she know, Kate’s more like Jack than she’d probably like to admit, but these two will most likely dominate the world and take down terrorist Margot Al-Harazi in no time (at least, that’s what I’m hoping for). Last Friday, TVRage participated in a conference with Strahovski, where she agreed that Kate is kind of like a mini-Jack, and she even takes inspiration from Sutherland who played the character for eight seasons. “I definitely saw early on the similarities between the two characters, and I think it’s important for me as an actress to recognize those particular similarities that ought to be there between Jack Bauer and Kate Morgan,” Strahovski told reporters. “That’s definitely a part of the storyline that we’re going in to. Obviously, I want to add my own flare to it, so that’s a whole separate thing, but, definitely, I take inspiration from Kiefer and I continue to as I see him work. He just really dives into this quite effortlessly. He’s been doing it for so long and he has so much to contribute to this as a series — not just as Jack Bauer, but he really is mentally immersed in part of the machinery that is this show from all different aspects.” In addition to being the female version of Jack Bauer, one of the aspects fans love about Kate is how Strahovski is noticed for her skills and talents, rather than her beauty and what she’s wearing. That’s one of the characteristics that attracted Strahovski to the role, because ‘24’ is such a raw show that forces you to “be very real.” “And on the same token not just with the acting, but, physically, I was adamant that I didn’t want her to be glammed up. I wanted minimal makeup and the clothing had to be real, nothing fancy, you know something like what she would wear in real life, which was part of the draw for me, because it is nice to just focus on scene work and something that has this much intensity in it.” [ Source ] |
